Goodbye Uluru...Hello Cairns, (7th Feb)

Writer: Kev and JulieKev and Julie

We had a quiet last stay by the pool after breakfast, and I thought I saw a big lizard.....

but then Julie saw a bigger one ...!

It was apparently 3 feet long - a Perentie Lizard (2nd largest lizard on the planet next to the one that kills you in Asia, the Komodo Dragon! (The Perentie is harmless though!)

Before leaving Uluru we had yet another chance to marvel at the Aussie press....say it like it is!!!!!

Then it was back to Uluru airport, and we were off to Cairns!

We had an upgrade on the plane.....extra legroom with exit aisle seats!!!

The flight to Cairns via Quantas Link was good. We left early and arrived at Cairns about 40 minutes early. We got a taxi into town, where we checked into the Mantra Esplanade hotel for one night.

We went out for a walk but it rained quite heavily, although that did not stop us seeing their huge bats, hundreds of which circled the town.

Apparently, they stink!!!
