We left the Mantra hotel at 8am and walked across the park to the ferry terminal. Still raining unfortunately. We caught the catamaran for the 1 hour boat journey to our next stop...Fitzroy Island Resort. (As far as we can recall, we have never been anywhere before where an Island is one resort). When we arrived it had stopped raining but there were still gloomy spells, and we had rain during the evening and through the first night.
The resort was peaceful and quiet and although we couldn't have our studio room until 2pm, we were able to use the pool and facilities.
After lunch we went for a walk to nearby 'Nudey Beach' (although it wasn't ....if you see what I mean!) Nudity on beaches is not allowed in Queensland, apparently.
On the way we saw lots of wildlife...
and when we got to Nudey Beach, the sun did come out
The beach was made of patches of sand, but mainly huge expanses of dead coral, which was everywhere on the island.
It was very quiet and peaceful.
Later we were able to check into our room, and after time by the pool and a cocktail, we ended the day with dinner at 'Foxy's Bar'.
