Well, where did the 14th January go? We reached New Zealand late on Sunday evening, Sunday 15th Jan. We had an eventful trip on Hawaiian Airlines. Did the crew know what they were doing? Possibly not by the way the entertainment froze every time the cabin crew made an announcement. Eventually it had to be re-set. The fasten seat-belt sign was on all the time although turbulence was minimal, and info from the flight-deck was rare. It just seemed that the crew didn't really want to interact with their passengers which felt a bit strange, and there was no recognition at all that we had crossed the international date line, and had lost a day forevere! We have now been away from home for a week.
We spent the night in the Crowne Plaza, Auckland, and on the Monday, we spent the day exploring Auckland and Devonport, which was a short ferry ride away.
In Auckland we also had the chance to see an exhibition of Banksy art. We enjoyed the exhibition, but couldn't help wondering if Banksy would approve of the commercialised nature of the event.
Also we found that even on 'the other side of the world', you cant get away from 'Westfield'!
