Early on Wednesday morning we left Hamilton at 7.30 and drove to Napier. En route we had a great breakfast in Taupo, and then stopped to do a (fairly sedate) river rafting session on the Mohaka river. Our host Dion was a great laugh. Everyone ended up in the river at some stage, and everyone seemed to find my calls of "Go-pro start recording" and "Go-pro stop recording quite hilarious! (Unfortunately I don't know if I can download the Go-pro footage here, so that may have to wait for a separate post later). Anyway I took a couple of sisterly shots on my phone before we set off on the raft.
The river was beautiful in a deep gorge with steams and water-falls adding to the flow.
Hopefully I will be able to add some stills from the Go-pro plus some video footage soon. Anyway, after we left the Mohaka, we continued on our drive through stunning scenery and empty roads, heading fro Napier.
There were lots of hills, sheep, and the odd big truck or car on the sweeping roads.
